As in English, also in Spanish there exists different rules to conjugate verbs in different verbal times. First, you are going to learn how to conjugate REGULAR verbs (verbos regulares) in Spanish in present simple tense (presente simple). There are three different endings: -AR, -ER and -IR and each of them is conjugated differently, but similar in a way.

REGULAR VERBS -AR

The largest category of regular verbs is the one that ends on -AR. Example: hablar (to speak), amar (to love), besar (to kiss), ayudar (to help), bailar (to dance), etc. To conjugate these verbs, you just have to change the ending -ar. Take a look:

AMAR (to love)

YOAMO-ONOSOTROS/ASAMAMOS-AMOS

ÉL/ELLA/USTEDAMA-AELLOS/ASAMAN-AN

ENDING -AR

cantar                 to sing
ganar                   to win, earn
hablar                 to speak
limpiar                to clean
llamar                  to call
olvidar                to forget
pagar                   to pay
tomar                  to take, drink
trabajar               to work
viajar                   to travel

REGULAR VERBS -ER and -IR

Note that conjugations for verbs that end on -ER and -IR are very similar to the ones that end with -AR. Where -AR verbs have A, -ER verbs have E. The conjugation for -IR verbs is the same as for the ones ending on -ER, it only changes its form with nosotros and vosotros.
