Which Spanish TV Series watch to learn Spanish?
When choosing which TV series we want to watch next we normally think about american productions. But with platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video or HBO we can and should give a chance to other international or home productions as well.

5. La casa de papel (Moneyheist)
You’ve probably heard of this series, and if you didn’t, what are you waiting for? Probably one of the most succesful Spanish TV series in the last years. First it was broadcasted on the Spanish television, but it really wasn’t as successful as when it came to Netflix. La casa de papel is a heist crime drama where eight thieves take hostages and lock themselves in the Royal Mint of Spain as a criminal mastermind “The Professor” manipulates the police to carry out his plan.
4. El inocente (The innocent)
El inocente is a mystery thriller mini TV series based on the Harlan Coben novel of the same name. It follows a story of Mateo, who nine years after getting himself involved in a quarrel and accidentally killing a man, attempts to start over with his wife Olivia. They will, however, be surprised by new developments that will tear their lives apart again. Starring Mario Casas, Aura Garrido and José Coronado – a really promising cast.
3. Fariña (Cocaine Coast)
Fariña* is a Spanish crime drama based on a true story and Nacho Carretero’s nonfiction book Fariña and it is about drug trafficer Sito Miñanco. It takes place in Galicia in the 80s when the fishing sector was transformed and many of the shipowners became indebted. This situation will be favorable for the start of activities such as contraband and drug trafficking.
*Fariña, slang for cocaine in Galician, literally means “flour”.
2. Estoy vivo (I’m alive)
Estoy vivo is a Spanish supernatural TV series profuced by Spanish national television. A policeman Andrés Vargas dies chasing a serial killer “The Butcher” and is reincarnated in another policeman five years later, granted immortality in exchange of never revealing his true identity. In these special circumstances he will not be alone – El Enlace (The Link) and his own daughter, who has become a young policewoman, will be his companions in the search of the Butcher.
1. Vis a vis (Locked up)
Vis a vis is a Spanish drama about a young naive woman, Macarena Ferreiro, who falls in love with her boss and, because of him, commits several accounting manipulation and misappropriation crimes. She is accused of four tax crimes, and consequently she is imprisoned at the Cruz del Sur Prison as a precautionary measure with very high bail set. She has to face the emotional shock that being in jail means to her, as well as the complicated relationship between the inmates.
